Meet Our Staff
A native Hoosier, Mike earned his bachelor's degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Detroit Honors Program and his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School. Mike then joined the Grand Rapids law firm Mike, Meyers, Beckett & Jones, PLC. He began his private legal practice in business, real estate and estate planning but increasingly devoted more of this time representing oil and gas companies in a wide array of their activities in Michigan. Mike also spoke frequently at both oil and gas law and estate planning/probate seminars.
Mike "retired" from private practice in 2002 and joined First American Title Insurance Company. He had been a title officer in First American's National Commercial Services Division and most recently Underwriting Counsel (Michigan) in the National Agency Services Division.
Mike joined The Closing Office January 2011 as our In-House Counsel. He brings us a valuable combination of his private-practice experience balancing client's wishes and their legal obligations and an "insider's view" of a title insurance underwriter's expectation of it agents.
Sandy has been in the title industry for over 25 years. She began as a manager of Century 21 Cedar Realty in 1980. She later went to work at The Title Office where she managed the Plainfield Branch escrow department. In 1996, Sandy went to work at Independent Title Services, where she put together and managed the escrow department. Sandy closed all the commercial files for Independent Title for 9 years. In 2005, Sandy went to Chicago Title as their corporate trainer, commercial closer and internal auditor. After a brief retirement and then a brief appearance at a small local title agency, she is now at The Closing Office where she is handling commercial closings and helping with escrow training. Sandy has been married for 33 years, has 2 children and 3 grandchildren.
Tracie has been in the title industry for over 25 years. She has a Bachelor's degree in Pre-Law from Michigan State University. Tracie began as a mineral examiner for an oil company and was at The Title Office after a few years of working for law firms in Massachusetts. In 1996, Tracie went to Independent Bank as VP and operations manager of Independent Title Services. In 2005 she went to work for Chicago Title to complete the project of consolidating their statewide examining into a centralized production unit. She ran production for the State of Michigan for a few years and worked as Operations Manager of a small, local title company. Tracie is now at The Closing Office examining commercial files. Tracie has been married for 21 years and has 2 boys, both currently in college.
